For 15 years now I have been obsessed with the well-known story of the sinking of the RMS Titanic.
That gigantic ship that sank on its maiden voyage.
But what is it about this famous tragedy that captivates me?
Like most people, I first heard about the story when the movie was made. But I’ve loved it ever since the very first time I saw it. And I’m not sure if it’s the love story between Rose and Jack, the tragedy of the sinking, the classical music or the exploitation of the upper-class society that has me mesmerized by the movie.
I think it started with the movie, but later also became an obsession with the ship itself. I love to watch any documentary that’s about the titanic, I have bought magazines that featured articles on the ship and once I get my own place to live in I want to buy a model ship. and if I had the money I would like to go down under the sea to see the ruins of the ship for myself.
As I write down these words I am listening to the soundtrack of the movie. There’s something very exhilarating about the music. I can listen to it for hours.
I have this theory:
If there is such a thing a previous life, could it be that I had died on the RMS Titanic in the early morning hours of April 15th, 1914?
That sure would explain a lot.
